As members of the Borders Supported Employment Network, we were able to provide Tesco with 10% of the total staff needed for their new store.

Ingeus is a member of the Borders Supported Employment Network (BSEN), providing us with access to local knowledge, events and voluntary client referrals.

The network assists people with disabilities who live in the Scottish Borders into work. It aims to assist them into jobs that have the flexibility required for their conditions, while at the same time pay them a fair wage. Supported employment plays an essential role in empowering individuals to lead the lives they want and is a major route to social inclusion.

One of the key successes of this membership has been our ability to assist with recruitment rounds for Sainsbury’s and Tesco, and we placed 10% of Tesco’s total staff headcount for their new store opening in Peebles. Our involvement with the network has also led to us being invited to become committee members, sitting on their Management Group.

Joyce Quilietti, Chair of BSEN, says, “I am delighted that Ingeus has joined our Borders Supported Employment Network. This has had a positive result for everyone concerned. Through closer working with network partners we have been able to identify and access support services for our clients that have resulted in their finding meaningful, sustained employment. I am pleased to say that this network is made up of organisations that are willing to share opportunities and offer support to each other, with positive results for everyone - local employers, clients and partner organisations.”
